Lunchtime Classical: Cyril Ibrahim

Cyrill Ibrahim is a Dutch concert pianist who lives in London. He is a graduate from the Royal College of Music where he studied with a full scholarship awarded by the government of The Netherlands.

His debut album, ‘Dialogue’, features works by Bach, Debussy, Schubert en Schumann. Just after the release of his disc he became ‘Artist of the Week’ at BBC Radio 3 and appeared on ‘The One Show’ at BBC One. Recently he played live on In Tune at BBC Radio 3.

Ibrahim has performed at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, St John’s Smith Square in London and the Philharmonie in Berlin.

Ibrahim was born in 1984 in Rotterdam. He studied at the Rotterdam Conservatory where he graduated in 2009 with distinction. Hereafter he studied with Andrew Ball in Master in Performance degree at the Royal College of Music.

Recently Ibrahim addressed the Dutch Parliament. He is co-founder of an orchestra which raises awareness for humanitarian causes. The World Harmony Orchestra.

He has worked with renowned pianists such as Maria João Pires, Peter Jablonski, Peter Donohoe and Steven Osborne. Steven about him: “I recently met a Dutch pianist, Cyrill Ibrahim, who has an openness that really impressed me, he could be someone really worth listening too”.
